Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

To bring awareness and celebrate the fastest growing group in the US, here are some quick points of information.

AAPI Overview

The AAPI community includes a number of origin groups with ancestries hailing from places like China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, the Philippines, Samoa, Cambodia, Fiji, India, Taiwan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Guam, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, and many more. Asian Americans currently make up ~7% of the population and are estimated to be the largest immigrant group in the US  by 2060.

#StopAsianHate

Hate incidents against the Asian community have surged 169% since the beginning of the pandemic - 68% of the victims have been women. This movement was accelerated by the Atlanta shootings on March 16, 2021. On April 22, 2021, the Senate passed a bill to target anti-Asian hate crimes.

Educate & Support

During a time when anti-Asian hate crimes continue to rise across the country, there’s no better time to celebrate AAPI Heritage - not only this month but all year round.
